Live in the Present Moment & Focus on Making it as Pleasant as You Can

The Present Moment is Where We Live

All we truly have is the present moment even if we think about the future coming. The future becomes the present moment too. Focus on making the present moment the best possible. If something is unpleasant, what can you do to make it feel better?

There may be simple things to improve the present moment like staying hydrated, not rushing, being focused, or finding a distraction like a podcast.

Stack up small, pleasant moments throughout the day.

It may be 20 seconds or 1 minute of something you enjoy. Each of those small enjoyments can really add up and sprinkle happiness or joy into the day.

Find simple joys to use for those short moments.

This may include:

  1. A playlist so you can quickly enjoy 1 song somewhere maybe even in the restroom at work.
  2. Planning snacks to have on hand so you are not cranky and also have your favorite, healthy foods.
  3. Favorite form of hydration
  4. A screensaver collection that inspires you on your phone or computer with nature photos, relaxing photos, supercars, positive quotes, whatever makes you inspired to reach your goals or enjoy the moment.
  5. Book apps with your books ready for when you are waiting somewhere or a youtube playlist so you can quickly enjoy something with earbuds
  6. Taking a moment to walk in nature or a short block around an office, your home, etc makes a difference in your mood
  7. Even if you don’t have much time, take 1 minute to do the thing. I was at a place I like and we had limited time, but we sat by the firepits there for 2 minutes and it made a difference to stack up short, beautiful moments in scenic places even if it was for 30 seconds or 2 minutes.

I hope you are inspired to find ways to improve the present moment. Once you plan some and have it ready to go, you can have some backup ideas for when you notice you are uncomfortable and shift your mood with something small.

The present moment is where we exist. If we make it the best we can, we can truly enjoy the moment. Even breathing more during a stressful moment makes a different and slowing things down if there is a hectic moment.

Stack up small, happy segments in between your activities whenever you can!
